8-21-11...The kids go back to school tomorrow. I have just mailed the piece for
the Girl Power 2 Cure auction (see below) - such a worthy cause,
especially since Rett syndrome may be one of the first neurological diseases which can be cured.
6-14-11...I cannot
believe I haven't written a thing since early May - busy!! First
commissioned portrait's colors mixed and portrait finished; second
portrait's colors being mixed in indanthrene and manganese blues. Two
new pieces have been created for this weekend's show at Hardy &
Nance St.s! (See one, plus just-finished portrait, above.) All hung
last night for show. Everyone's work looks fantastic. Stop by if you
can!
5-7-11...Mixing colors for the two children's portrait commissions in Anthraquinone Blue and various reds.

Currently
working on two family commissions, pointillistic style. Today's work

What a great time this weekend!! Two shows, totally different
venues. The Doshi House was a happening place Friday night; excited to be
a part of future shows. Faces was a great amalgam of answers to
"portrait." Saturday, Hardy & Nance Studios was alive with art
lovers moving through the studios; so many distinct styles to view. Great work,
Jo & Mark: Looking forward to next year!
11-14-10... What
a fabulous, fun show last night!! CDC Art on the Avenue is always a
really good scene & last night was no exception. Lots of new funds
for Community Development Corp., a great cause!
11-03-10... Met
with Deepak Doshi of The Doshi House today ... What a fantastic gallery
space! Look for many unique upcoming events from this gallery. The
owners are full of life and the gallery will be too. Excited to be a
part of their first show, Faces.
10-28-10... Preview party for SNAP event was fantastic! Come out Dec. 2nd & see the collars!

Journal reports that only 1 percent of coffee brewed at home is iced.
C’mon America, it’s August – and it’s just not that complex a procedure.”
We do iced; Recipe below. September's going to be a long month. You’re welcome!
...Put 1 part coarsely ground coffee & 6 parts water into a pitcher
together. Let it stand room temperature overnight (12 hours). The next
morning line a fine-mesh sieve with a paper coffee filter & pour
all the mix through it into a pitcher. Cool in refrigerator. This
makes smooth, non-burnt tasting coffee that’s strong enough to be at its
best when diluted. Sugar-free soy milk is great with it...

Houston skyline drawn onto it ...
Jul 3 2010 ... Thought for the Fourth of July: Every family has
its own story regarding why they're here, and Alex and I
together represent two very separate timelines of immigrants. My
mother's ancestry pre-dates the Declaration of Independence because
Thomas Hale II's father left his village of Watton-at-Stone, England,
during the Great Migration of 1630-40 to try to begin a new life. Alex's
grandparents left Mexico as children for the same reason. (And boy, am
I glad they did!) So here's to the United States, its diversity and
rich cultural history: Happy 234th!! We love you.
